Technical Services Department is responsible for the planning, development, operation, and maintenance of municipal infrastructure. The department ensures the sustainable delivery of essential services through effective engineering solutions, compliance with statutory requirements, and sound project management practices.
The Civil Engineering Section is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of civil infrastructure within the municipality. This includes roads, stormwater systems, water supply, sanitation services, and public facilities.
The section ensures that infrastructure development meets approved engineering standards, promotes public safety, and supports sustainable service delivery.
The Electrical Engineering Section oversees the provision, operation, and maintenance of municipal electrical infrastructure. Its responsibilities include electricity distribution networks, public lighting, substations, and electrical compliance within municipal facilities.
The section ensures reliable electricity supply, network safety, and adherence to national regulations and standards.
The Mechanical Engineering Section is responsible for the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems and plant equipment used in municipal service delivery. This includes pumps, generators, vehicles, workshops, and mechanical installations at water and wastewater treatment facilities. The section ensures optimal equipment performance, preventative maintenance, and operational efficiency.
The Project Management Unit (PMU) manages the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of municipal infrastructure projects, particularly those funded through grants and capital budgets. The unit ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with legislative and funding requirements. The PMU plays a critical role in improving service delivery and infrastructure development across the municipality.
